About AFCR Youth Academy

The AFC Rochester Youth Academy is the official starting point for players ages 5–9 to develop the technical foundation needed for long-term success in soccer. The program provides a structured, age-appropriate environment focused on skill development, confidence, game awareness, and enjoyment of the game.
Led by Coach Dean James, the Academy emphasizes individual technical growth, small-sided play, and introduction to the AFC Rochester club culture. Player identification comes through open sessions, grassroots teams, and community outreach, with built-in opportunities for progression throughout the year.
As a development-first program, the Youth Academy supports players at all commitment levels through:
- Fall Soccer
- Year-Round Training
- Supplemental Training
- Short-Term Skills Clinics
- Brighton U8 & U9 RDYSL Travel Teams
- Potential U9 Pre-Select Tournament Teams
